Gratitude and Smiles
The best pay for running a business is not money. It is a customer's thank-you and a sincere smile.
By Mireya Báez
Starting a new business begins with a desire, a longing, an illusion, or a dream. I was no exception. From a very young age I had a clear and enthusiastic mental image. That is why the Greeks defined enthusiasm as "the one who has a god inside," "the one inspired by a divinity," or as "the positive energy of a person in the face of life."
A dream needs a purpose
A desire is not enough. You need a purpose, an honest look at your skills, capital available, and clarity about which problem your product or service solves. You also have to research the market, put together a business plan with a commercial strategy, make cost projections and line up sources of financing.
The doubts that keep you up at night
There are also doubts, fears, criticism and uncertainty that sometimes do not let you sleep. All of this is part of the dream. It is said that the more a project keeps you up at night, the more it is worth doing.
The best pay
I also want you to know that there is a prize, a reward for the effort, service, sacrifice and passion you put into a business. Yes, part of that reward is economic well-being: the profits, the growth, the goodwill of the business. But the best pay is not the one that has to do with money. There is something infinitely more rewarding that fills the spirit with joy: the words of immense gratitude and the sincere smiles our customers offer us for what we do.
